Here’s what you need to know about our volunteer training courses:
Our courses will once again be run online and provide our new volunteers with high quality training that will equip you with everything you need to know before you start visiting a family in their own home.
We have more families than ever, in every corner of The Forest of Dean, Cheltenham and Tewkesbury, waiting to be matched with a home visiting volunteer. As a home visiting volunteer, you will visit a family in their own for 2-3 hours each week and provide tailored practical and/or emotional support. Families right now are facing a multitude of difficulties and here at Home-Start North and West Gloucestershire, we know that the earlier we are able to help, the less chance there is of family crisis or breakdown later on. A couple of hours a week support from a volunteer, just like you, could make a world of difference to a family currently in stress.
All our volunteers are parents themselves, some are grandparents too, and they bring their own individual experiences of parenting to the role, and are able to offer their unique insights into situations.
In return for your time and commitment, we offer you training which covers everything you need to know before you start visiting a family we match you with. After that you will receive ongoing help and support from our team as well as the chance to complete supplementary training. You will quickly develop a new network of friends and colleagues and at Home-Start North and West Gloucestershire, we like to think of our volunteers as a part of our family.
Your training and work here at Home-Start will be an excellent stepping stone for you if you are looking to change careers or upskill. We want you to be a part of the exciting journey we are on.
Courses will be run online and supplemented by e-learning modules.
